New Stillwater Thrifty Kilt.

I ordered a new Stillwater thrifty kilt on Friday and it arrived on Monday. They gave me hardly enough time for a proper jones! I picked it up to wear around the house in the Summer's humid weather and for hiking jaunts because I can toss it in the washing machine without worries. I like it for its' purpose/price and the tartan looks great I think. Wearing it very casual here. I know it's a bit long. I'm only 5'7. It looks easy enough to hem across the bottom due to the thin material and that might give it a bit of swish. I might take it up an inch or two. My other kilt is fitted for my height so this one feels a bit different up higher on the waist. What say the Rabble?

Looks very good to me and it doesn't look too long. It comes to the top of the knee which is about right I would say.

Thanks you two. Hey California Highlander; I think if you don't compare it to a heavier kilt you'll enjoy it. Great for warm weather. Sailortats the longer I wear it the more I don't mind wearing it higher on my waist. It's growing on me.

I'm just a newbie, but I like it! Also, from everything I read it's not long at all. (Amerikilts recommend middle of knee, and Utilikilts recommend right past the knee).

I think the difference is the top is a full hands width above my naval thusly it felt different from my other kilt when seated. But I've taken to it and don't mind at all after some wear now. Just wanted to see what the rabble thought about it setting rather high by my standards. My other kilt sits about an inch above my naval. But hey for an off the rack knock around kilt I'm impressed. Very comfortable indeed.

I bought one in Irish National for St. Patrick's day. With the price and washability I've been able to wear it without worrying about spillage or worse.

They really do seem to fill a useful niche. It also has a bit more of a traditional look than say a sport kilt. McFarkus, have you given yours a wash yet? Just curious how it held up to a washing?

I think it looks fine, and they are a great price. You can always get a wider belt to visually offset.

I was going to order one for this halloween season.
I do f/x makeup for the haunt industry and get into character 5-7 times a season.
I want to distress, tatter, splatter a lil' blood on it, make it look a wee bit nasty.

Ron do you mind a few questions?

How does the velcro closure work and does it stay inplace well or move around a bit?
No belt loops right?
Is the weight thinner than the SW Standard?
