Indeed no belt loops. I can share my experience thus far: Mine has 3 velcro closures neatly placed across the top band. I can say I've been in it all day including a nap and they have not moved. The kilt feels very secure with or without a belt TJ. I can't address the material weight. I believe that the standard is a good bit heavier and a PV of which this is not. I'll try and add a photo of the closures for you tomorrow.

I was going to order one for this halloween season.
I do f/x makeup for the haunt industry and get into character 5-7 times a season.
I want to distress, tatter, splatter a lil' blood on it, make it look a wee bit nasty.

Ron do you mind a few questions?

How does the velcro closure work and does it stay inplace well or move around a bit?
    No belt loops right?
Is the weight thinner than the SW Standard?
    Let me know, thanks. —T

Perfect, thanks for your input. Mostly I'm concerned about it staying in place.
While scaring the shat out of people, you tend to crouch down, creep around and are quite active.
Last thing you need to worry about is continual costume adjustments.

Other than the wool, all SW kilts are made from acrylic. I know the Standards and Economy use the same wht. But they dont say anything on the site about the Thrifty. Thanks again for your info, a personal opinion holds water.

I'm with sailor tats. It does not look too long. And, I like the way you are wearing it at your waist. Nice sporran, belt, and boots by the way. You look great! Enjoy it.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

You're welcome TJ and many thanks mookien. I appreciate the feedback all. First day I've worn a kilt all day. It's addictive! I've already picked out my next kilt for this Fall. Oh.. so this is how it all begins.

Yes, and it only gets worse, ... which really means better.

I think that your new kilt looks great. I also think that the length is perfect, and the waist looks to be the proper height for a "traditional" kilt. I have several "traditional" kilts ,and the are at my "true waist" too. Just like your photo here.

If it feels a bit long on you, then I'm suspect that your other kilts are a "casual cut" that are (were) meant to be worn where you wear your pants, rather than worn at you "true waist".

So, I think that it looks great and (in my opinion) fits great!

I'd say the kilt length looks fine, and I like the choice of colour for your polo shirt. Personally, I'm not a fan of short or scrunched socks with a kilt, but many like the look. It is amazing how comfortable the added ventilation of a kilt is in hot humid weather!

The velcro on my Thrifty Kilt is a little TOO good sometimes, it holds really well.

Stan, Bill.. many thanks! I really like both looks myself. Casual and more traditional. Next photo I'm going to see how well it 'dresses up' with some proper kilt hose and flashes. Perhaps a tattersal shirt etc,. I too am liking the extra flash of tartan up high. My other kilt comes right to the navel, this one about about 4 inches above. I think my next kilt will be the same length as this one. TJ I have not forgotten. I'm still going to take a photo of the closures for you.

Llama.. I agree. Solid. Get it too tight and it will impair breathing.
