This seems the closest thread to my question. Hope you don't mind my jumping in (a little late too). I want to invest in and purchase my first custom kilt/Prince Charlie. I have rented the Prince Charlie twice for weddings. I am satisfied that I will wear them for all social events from this point on.
Here comes the tricky part. Since retiring, I have gone from 218 to 271. I am on the way down now. I want to wear the kilt in the Memorial Day parade for 2014. (Learning the pipes too)
When should I order these items? I'd appreciate any advise that you all would give.

    Warmest Regards, Dave

Hi SFCLangley, welcome to the board. Just a heads up for you, a Prince Charlie(PC) jacket is not an all purpose jacket. It is the equivalent of a tuxedo and most usually worn at black tie events. I would suggest that a Argyll jacket, in a tweed, would be more suitable for a memorial day parade. Cheers
Shoot straight you bastards. Don't make a mess of it. Harry (Breaker) Harbord Morant - Bushveldt Carbineers
