Scottish Celebration - Maryland Renaissance Fair

The "Scottish Celebration" weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Fair is this weekend, September 21 & 22. Information can be found here.

In addition to all the other stuff at this diverse event, this weekend includes the Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums, The Wallace Band, North Sea Gas and Cu Dubh. Also, King Henry VIII will be there.

Susan and I plan to attend on Sunday and I will be sporting my dandelion. This is a really good Renaissance Fair to attend; the setting is beautiful and you can get lost in the atmosphere of it all.

Hope to see some of you there. I'll post pictures next week.

    Nile

NOTE: The "Irish Celebration" at the MD Renfest will be October 5 & 6.
Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. As promised, here are some pictures of the Scottish Celebration at the Maryland Renaissance Fair, just outside of Annapolis. First are some pictures of kilted individuals. Most of the kilt wearing was costume'y or period (?) based. I saw very few kilts worn well.

OK, these are the last of the shots I'll boor you with! Here's a couple of shots of my wife, Susan, and me. We both, recently got new kilts from Bonnie Heather Green. I wore mine once before but, this is the first time she has worn hers.

This weekend, October 5 & 6 is the 'Irish Celebration' at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. If it's anything like the 'Scottish Celebration', it should be a blast.

Susan and I will not be attending. We will be at the Chesapeake Celtic Festival in Snow Hill, Maryland, just south of Salisbury.
