New Hampshire Games X-Marks Meet Up

Well, the weather held out until after the meetup. The rabble at the 2013 New Hampshire Highland Games.

If you squint behind me and in between the flags and tent, Barb T and the Mohawk Frasers were in final warm up to their performance. Sorry that Tartan Tess couldn't make it but afterwards I saw she was very busy with work.

More photos from the games to come in the next week or so.

    Chris

It was great seeing everyone and the weekend at Loon mountain was super at the Clan Donnachaidh tent. Sunday I found out our clan piper, 16 yo Allyson Crowley-Duncan who is a grade 2 piper with the Stuart Highlanders got invited up on stage to pipe with the Chili Pipers. Go Ally!

One of these years I'll get to the games, at Loon. But I always head that way in October, and can't swing two trips to the same area, three weeks apart. Since I'll be in the White Mountains for the Columbus Day week, how is the foliage shaping up this year?

The foliage was just starting to turn. Some cold overnight temps forcast so that should get the ball rolling.

Sorry to have missed the photo. Our band was competing at about that time. Was very busy for me. We rounded up and led the clans in a march through the clan village to the main parade grounds. I was in the morning and evening massed bands and then again at the end of the day on Sunday. Was, for me, the most activity ever at Loon. I saw Patti Smith and Tess and BD and hailed Barb T in passing in the band encampment. Because my daughter and I went to Glasgow with Catamount and members of RI Highlanders we spent a lot of time with them catching up. Great time! Can't wait for next year. In the interim there is Scotland, CT on 13 October!

Holy cow. Our "Tartan petting zoo" (Big array of tartan swatch books from 4 major mills) was swamped all 3 days.
We never sat down and I realized I missed the meet up about 6pm. I did get to meet Barb T this year.

It was great seeing everyone again and once again N.H.H.G. lived up to it's billing as one of the largest and most diverse games in North America.
I went up to Mount Washington on Monday - could only go up half way and the temp was 25F and the wind was steady at 50mph with a gust of 80mph - trees covered with rime ice. That mountain is awesome.
