Well... I do think they look extremely ridiculous, but this was a rookie prank and should be considered just that.

Humiliation aside, I believe the manufacturer of such cheesy costumes should get the grunt of this outrage. Do you think the Italians would be outraged if these players were forced to wear French maids outfits or dress like a Pierrot?

It's a prank meant to humiliate the person... not offend a nation. I'm certain such pranks exist that are much more harmful/dangerous.

BTW, I was at a Hallowe'en store a few weeks back and saw the same "Scotsman" costume on sale ... [for] $49.95 at Party City (the name of the store).

That's an awful lot of money for a bit of blue ribbon.
