Got to dash, catch up with you all ---------er ,--------well--------sometime!.

Low cloud on the hills and torrential rain has put pay to all "rule 11" antics for the day and the river is in flood, so no wetting of the line, so time to report in and catch up with hundreds of posts on xmarks. Grumbs! Where do I start?!

Just like fishing down a pool, then. Yes I can do that!

I'm sure there's no shortage of instances of us Yanks going off-course. It would be a tremendous loss to not have our beloved Jock to set us upon the True Path!

In all seriousness, you are one of XMarks' greatest assets. I grew up in a desert surrounded by sand dunes, palm trees, coyotes, and roadrunners. What do I know about this Highland stuff? You provide a steadying "reality check" for us all.

Sorry to hear about all your rain. It's sunny again today... day after day, month after month... we start to look forward to the little bit of rain and clouds we might get in February perhaps. Cheers! Richard

    OCR.

Steady on! Too much of that and I will need a bigger bonnet!

    But, thank you.

Hi Simon, its been a fantastic season and it going to keep going by the looks of it. The fishing has not been quite so good, but that's the way it goes sometimes. I will have to tot up how many days out on the moor I have had at the end of the season but suffice to say, rather a lot! I am down in Dorset on Monday partridge shooting and then a quick wizz up the M6 back to the grouse on the Tuesday! I dread to think how many miles I have done in the last few weeks, still, I have got a fair bit to catch up on, considering that only a few years ago, I was not supposed to ever venture out again!

I have worn my kilt out on the moor once for old time's sake------never again! I stood in the same butt that my father lost "the kilt pin" in. I have stood in it many times over the years, but never in the kilt before. A strange thing happened, the clip that fastened the pin came undone----its never done that before ,or since --------and it was only a wee bit of elastic band around the "prong" that stopped me loosing it again some 60 years after father lost it in the same place! Wierd?

That is not the reason why I shall not wear the kilt out on the moor again though! The reason? Ticks! I must have had to remove over thirty of the devils from my legs when I got home! I loathe those dastardly things!

Oh well, got to keep going!

Excellent news apart from the ticks. Bit of an occupational hazard for me as well, although luckily I have avoided them thus far. Saw a chap fly fishing on the Avon at Fordingbridge yesterday, shame I was working as he was midstream and looked as though he knew what he was doing.
Time to cast aside the kilt in favour of breeches and waders.

Keep up the good work and hope to see you on the Test soon.
