A picture taken this summer at the Fergus Highland games:

The kilt is box-pleated and built by John Hart at Keltoi. 16oz Strome. Pleated to the stripe. John provided this image for the box-pleated pattern for the maple leaf tartan.

Love the kilt.

Thanks for sharing all the Maple Leafs!
(or, Maple Leaves, south of the border )
Always been one of my favourite tartans, so different from any other.

Unless we're talking a particular NHL Hockey team, it's Maple Leaves north of the border, too.

Interestingly, Hockey was invented in Windsor Nova Scotia and is a descendant of Shinty. In fact, a pickup game of informal Hockey is called Shinny, and to keep the comment on xmarks theme, given the Highland origins, I've often wondered about the connection between Hockey and Shinty socks and kilt hose.

My understanding is that the hockey team was originally called the "Maple Leaf Hockey Team" and thus while a plurality of leaves on a tree would be spelled with a "v", members of the team were "Maple Leafs."
Who knew!

I obtained a Maple Leaf kilt from Father Bill after he lost a lot of weight. (His loss was my gain ). It has become my favourite kilt and people love the colours especially in the fall. I have had more positive comments on this kilt than any other kilt I have worn.

If anyone fancies a shuftie at the Batley website, it has their complete range (including Maple Leaf) in their Torridon and Morven kilting weights. The link to NB Fabrics is here.
From my enquiry in July this year (2013) The fabrics are available per metre of 150cm usable width (59"). The company is happy to sell direct to the public and their prices are as follows:
Cuillin (11oz) £18.25 per metre
Torridon (13oz) £19.95 per metre
Morvern (16oz) £21.65 per metre
That's without Value Added Tax (+20% where applicable) or shipping by the way.
Very good value if you ask me...
