So I went back to the shop yesterday with one of my kilts on. I had also brought along a nice shirt, so that I could get the full feel for the jacket. However, I still did not like this jacket. The fit was too short, the shoulders to bulky, and the waist length was standard for all jacket sizes, meaning that this may have been long on someone that was 5'8, but not on someone that is 6'4. The jacket had the straps on the shoulders for a fly plaid (do they all?It doesn't seem like it from the photos I have seen) and the bottom was situated at waist length.
Is this how it is supposed to fit? I always thought that the Argyle sat a bit lower than the PC.
I have not given upp on the Argyle, but have decided not to purchase from a local shop. Besides they only had black, and not charcoal grey.
I also believe that I will be looking for a Crail jacket, rather than an argyle. Or I may just check out Thompson's pattern and have one tailor made.
Alas the day was not a total loss, I stopped in to buy myself a new CD, and ended up buying Seris 1 and 2 of Monarch of the Glen.
