There's a great little incident related in Charles Thompson's book on wearing the kilt that's good for lots of other occasions in life, too.
A kilt-wearing friend of Thompson's was asked by someone, "But don't people insult you?" And he said "No. Never. A few people have tried but no one's ever succeeded."
I'm sure I don't have the quote word-for-word but I love the thought behind it.
