Need help! (White hose and in-laws)

One more thing...

White hose are neither "wrong" or "right", they are just long socks that happen to be white in color. I have seen a lot of them worn over the years. I have seen them worn well and worn poorly. Don't worry about them being "wrong" or "right", just worry about coming up with an outfit you think looks good.

This forum seems to be down on white hose, but none of them will be there when you wear them. It would be more wrong not to wear them in the presence of the gift giver. The kilt will be the main article of attention. You will look good and the mother-in-law will be happy.

If the weather is appropriate wear them with an Aran sweater.

I think they look best with an Arran sweater in the same undyed wool. Turn their shade into a strength.

I would wear them outside without shoes in the back garden/yard and then put them in the laundry basket, and when they ask where are your white hose, you can say that You wear them nearly all the time and they just happen to be in the wash basket at the moment.

Problem solved. You don't have to wear them and they will believe that you are getting great use out of them.

Nowt wrong with white socks. They aren't particularly my cup of tea but they work well on anyone who likes them. Our mate Derek from South Wales wears white socks all the time in a casual way and his kit looks fine to me.

It`s your outfit, and honestly it is a nice gesture to wear the hose that your Mother in Law gave you. I like what Panache had to say about it, but you don`t necessarily need to wear a white shirt if you don`t want to. Perhaps you should try a few outfits before the day and see what you think works best. You could also post some photos here to get opinions.

They go well with the laces of his casual "brogues". Just kidding - he looks great and is obviously his own man!
