G'day Ian. No news yet, mainly because I have been at sea for the last couple of months. I expect the weaving to be close to completion (hopefully) and will be going to see Doug and Karen to get measured up when I get home in about mid-November. Don't worry, I will post as soon as I have some news to share. And of course, with no pictures, it didn't happen!

Hi Downunder Kilt,
Your post has been drawn to my attention in the context of the national tartan matter. I represent the Scottish Australian Heritage Council (SAHC) as its president, hence the interest in this good thread on the topic. I am very interested in the letter that you have from the PM's office. If you are able to scan it and email it to me at president@scottishaustralianheritagecouncil.com.au that will help our case.
Thank you,
Malcolm Buchanan

Just an update on the availability on the Australian tartan from Doug at All Things Tartan. I saw Doug on the weekend in Victoria. He has received half the ordered bolt from Batelys and is expecting the other half of the bolt, in short course. He has also ordered a second bolt. Now the not so good news. The Australian Army, out of Townsville, have ordered 18 kilts in the Australian Tartan, so that basically takes care of the first bolt. Do not fret, Doug has not forgotton about those on this forum, hence the second order. Originally I think the intention was to go 13oz weight from Strathmore but they could not colour match to Dougs specifications, hence the move to Batelys which produced a 16oz weight.

Thanks DK. Much appreciated news. No wonder I hadn't heard from Doug! Oh well, they have a business to run and an 18 kilt order is a big order. I will drop him a line though, just to keep us front of mind. Serendipitous isn't it that our interest enabled him to fill the Army's order straight away? All the best.

Antipodean Celt, Doug did mention that he had two definate orders from members of this forum and that there is a possibility that there will be enough left on the first bolt to satisfy those. I can assure that he has not forgotton about the members here.

I'm in touch with Doug from time to time. I was aware of the Military Kilt order and the switch to Batley 16oz and have no problem that the first bolt has gone to fulfil that. I've had a four meter (double width) interest in the project from the beginning and I'm hoping it will be shipped straight to me from Leeds rather than back and fourth to/from Australia. It's only Leeds, I could drive over and pick it up. ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
It IS taking a while but I'm pleased that Doug is getting firm orders and I'm not suffering withdrawal at all... Honest.

Patience is a virtue right EB? Because such suffering is positively masochistic otherwise... I feel your pain.

Hi, Not sure if you know the Australia tartan in medium weight DW fabric is available from a Scottish Shop in Croydon, Sydney. A friend recently purchased a kilt length as well as a tie and scarf.
