Severe Storms Sweep Across Scotland

My sister in South Yorkshire tells me that their roof is damaged, so she has been trying to sort out the insurance all day - a long job as they were one amongst many.

The East coast is expecting a storm surge - the one which happened in the early 50s was bad - hopefully with the warnings going out this time it will not have such an impact, even if the water rises higher.

They're expecting the high temp to be about 30 F Saturday. I'll be out piping in that with other members of the Louisville Pipe Band (paid gig).

As many have said in the states we are getting a bit of frost from Texas north to Canada. Keep yourself safe especially if the icy stuff hits. Fortuante for me I only have a mile to the hospital I work at, this being my weekend of call also. The good thing was I got to break out my Inverness Cape I made last year and wear it walking to work. A bit blustery for the kilt but my East German military wook knickers were quite warm and the cape kept any breeze from bothering me. This morning was 22 F with 18mph winds and 6 F chill factor. Was quite a nice stroll indeed.
