    A sweater would be casual, so would a jacket/shirt without tie.
    Personally, I see nothing wrong with argyll jacket & vest with a tie as casual dress. Casual dress is somewhat undefined. Anything from t shirt & flip flops to full tweed & tie can be casual, depending on group standards. I agree with Griz & Dale, if youre in doubt.

    Thanks gents! I was leaning towards the tweed with a regimental tie. Thinking a charcoal waistcoat as well. I have a new Boyd tartan kilt coming from USAkilts. (Very excited, by the way) once it gets here I'll start worrying about the hose.

    You can't go wrong with tweed. Even if everyone else is dressed very casually, tweed will give you a smart dressy look without being over the top like a PC.

    My general rule of thumb is that if I'm even considering tweed against another option, tweed is the right answer.
