Hi Addie, how are you. Good to see you on the forum. I actually contacted that shop and was quoted A$870.00 for a kilt in the Australian tartan, plus they stated that they could not pleat it to the stripe, only the sett. I have also been reliably informed that they attempted to sell, to another vendor, what they have left of a bolt of the tartan for more than it cost to get a 16oz woven (metre for metre)

Further to my last post, it seems NB fabrics have completed the order and have shipped it as a job lot to Australia (unfortunately that included the four meters I was after). Not to worry, I'm arranging with Doug to have my kilt length shipped back again after Christmas. Apparently there is plenty available.

Hi Downunder kilt, Thanks for the welcome. Not sure about any of that, only mentioned the Sydney shop as you all seem to have been waiting awhile. I know my friend was happy with his purchase and that it was cheaper per metre than going through Scot Web. When I looked them up they were offering single width for $85/mtr and I'm pretty sure Alec got double width at around $80/mtr. I have seen the fabric and the tie and both look great, suppose it's like anything you go with who you're happiest with. Good luck and here's hoping you don't have the wait much longer for your Australia Kilt. Happy Hogmanay everyone.

Good news for those waiting John, hopefully I will be receiving my kilt from Matt in the very near future.

My four meters d/w is paid for and on-route from Queensland via airmail... Been in touch with mee mate Carol the Kiltmaker and I'll be forwarding it to her in the next couple of weeks so she can work her magic.
Unfortunately I'm away at work so it will arrive while I'm on-shift... 'twas ever thus but fairly soon me an' Mrs EB will be cutting about like twins.

Good one John, you may well end up getting yours before I get mine. Look forward to seeing the pics of you and Mrs EB when yours is done. Cheers.

Exciting news indeed EB! I just got home from sea this week, and drive around to Doug's shop yesterday afternoon to get measured up, and...he was closed! Aaargh!! I will try again next week. Soon.

Devastated. But Doug assures me they will be open in Monday. And i was somewhat consoled by the very unlikely win in the cricket last night. If there is a better thing than watching the English lose from an unloseable position whilst kilted, then i have yet to experience it. Lots of positive comments on the kilt at the Gabba.
