Lately it's Ardbeg 10 yr which I really like; Talisker and Laphroaig before that.
This is the final test of a gentleman; his respect for those who can be of no possible service to him.

I've not had the A'bunadh, but I'm quite fond of Aberlour 12. int:

I really, really like Ardbeg 10. I've not had Talisker yet. I also really, really like Laphroaig 10. int:

What do you recommend that is not a peat monster?

If you cannot fix it, mess it up so bad that no one else can either.

Assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that you are interested in a good "cask strength" malt, I heartily recommend the aforementioned Aberlour A'bunadh, if you like a great sherry finish. Forrester Modern got me onto this dram and it is excellent - my favorite Aberlour.
If you prefer an "oaky" aspect, I recommend the Macallan 15-year, red-label "CASK STRENGTH" as opposed to their "FINE OAK" (though ironically the 15-yr FINE OAK is my favorite Macallan overall). I prefer the "CASK STRENGTH" on ice or with a little added H2O. I see it less and less, however, so it may be more difficult to find than the Aberlour.
Neither of these malts has a dominating peaty aspect. Good luck and let us know what you decide and how you like it.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

If, on the other hand, 43-46% ABV is sufficient, I can heartily recommend several relatively inexpensive but fine tasting drams...
Aberlour 12, Balvenie Doublewood 12, Cragganmore 12, Dalmore 12, Dalwhinnie 15 and MacAllan 12 are all on my favorites list.

Highland Park 12 is just a bit smoky, but not a peat monster.

I do nt mind smokey, but slap you in the face does not appeal to me.
I am still tryng scotches to find one to fit my love of irish whiskeys. Bushmills black label is pretty good.

I don't always drink Irish whisky, but when I do, I prefer Bushmills. Stay thirsty, my friend!
