Vintage eBay find in time for Burns

I picked up a vintage tweed Argyll jacket off eBay finally in my size and at a good price. It even made it all the way from Scotland in time for the Burns Night party we threw at our house last night!

Very nice! I think you'll find that an unbuttoned jacket is more comfortable and traditional. Looks like a grand time!

Looks like a wonderful time was had by all! Good on you for throwing a dinner. Nice jacket although I agree that open would be better.

Fantastic looking spread. Great looking jacket. You and your honey look stupendous. Yet in agreement with others about the buttons.

Thanks everyone! We had a lot of fun and I had a great time from the cooking to the party itself. My kids especially loved it and danced away to the pipes!

as for buttons... I usually wear my jackets (non-kilt) unbuttoned and have even drawn flack for it in the past. I felt that I should button and thought it my look better. I am curious to here more on this topic!

    Nice looking jacket.

When wearing a waistcoat or sweater vest, the jacket is usually left open to allow the waistcoat or sweater to be seen. As an added benefit, it's also cooler than having the jacket buttoned.

However, as in all clothing decisions, how you wear it,...is entirely up to you.

Great pictures and a nice jacket. Thanks for sharing them.

Unless you are a piper or very cold, leave the jacket unbuttoned. If you button it, as with Anglo-Saxon jackets, always leave the bottom button undone ... if you want to be traditional.
