Rob Roy revisited

Graham you seem to bear a striking resemblance to the character Coll.( Rob tells him to keep his brother inline,and he is the first to be shot)sorry about that. and I am now watching it again as I did not finish it last night. It is surley one of my favorites as I own this copy.

Yes, I'm beginning to think that Rob Roy is as good if not better than Braveheart.

Being a Macgregor, I have a fondness for Rob Roy. It drives my wife nuts. "Not again?"

The true sadness of the movie is it depicts the Macgregors klinging to a fast fading lifestyle. However, the real sad part is that Rob Roy spent more time getting even than moving on. The results of that and other things lead to presecution of the clan.

I prefer "Rob Roy" to "Braveheart" any day; it is much more historically authentic compared to the latter, and I think captures the time period quite well.

Great movie! I am going to watch this again. I agree that it was much more historically accurate than Braveheart, and Mel Gibson acnowledged this in an interview that he had done some "directorial embelishing" to the movie. I heard that the actors of Rob Roy had a beast of a time battling the midges during filming!

Leather jackets make almost anybody cool, especially the one they show as Rob Roy's.
Not much into the 'stitched back on' sleeves, but otherwise a good look.

Haven't found men's leather jackets short enough to really look good with a kilt. Anybody?

did you realize that a lot of it was filmed in OZ

I'm afraid you are wrong David, the film credits say it was filmed entirely on location in Scotland. I'm glad really, where else could you film it for authenticity?

(Altho another good celtic fim, "raising Ned Devine", an Irish film, was filmed on the Isle of Man)

Sorry Old Mate In my DVD cover it states and I quote

"After Photography wrapped in Scotland the crew Travelled to Perth Australia to shoot scences in and around two castles: Megginch Castle was used as the background for town seqences,and Drummond Castle with its beautiful gardens served as the home of the Marquis of Montrose."

Maybe we have a different DVD leaflet ?
