Nobody said you were, though by wearing them, you are.

Wrong. That is against the law in Scotland. English law may allow you to abuse Scottish arms when in England, but I doubt it. It is certainly against Scots law for you to wear somebody else's arms in Scotland.

Yes, you can. You can also wear the clan crest.

Wrong. There are laws regarding what flags you may fly. Specifically referring to arms, it is illegal to fly flags bearing arms other than your own personal arms. That includes the Lion Rampant, the correct use of which is restricted by a law of the Scottish Parliament to a few Great Officers of State who officially represent the Sovereign in Scotland, as the Lion Rampant is the Royal Standard of Scotland, the Scottish queen/king's personal arms. You may carry a hand-held version at state occasions and sporting events.

Wrong. There are other laws beyond corporate coyright. Your ignorance of them is no excuse. As recently as 1978, a chap named Denis Pamphilon was fined £100 daily for use of the Royal Standard of Scotland as a bedspread until he desisted. The fact that such laws are not rigorously enforced does not mean that you are free to flout them.

I think the members here have enlightened you as to the laws, customs and cultural mores of the land. Whether or not you now choose to change your opinion on the matter is up to you and I for one shall judge your character accordingly.

I think I'll leave it at that.

    Ya' know...

...even if it was legal (and I don't suppose it is) it would be rude and boorish.

There is a strange, sad and ugly irony here which some evidently fail to grasp.

I think the original poster, quote 'ruffle some feathers', certainly did so.
I have been 'slammed' and 'hammered' - even by my own countrymen. I have been called a 'troll'.
I have many more things to say on the original post. - But I won't. (I am sure you will all applaud!) I will write no more on this topic. I agree to disagree with my mentors.
My last words on this topic are - I live in the 21st century, the last few years (?) of my Queen Elizabeth ll - NOT in the 20th century of Queen Victoria. Things change.

Some things change, yes. In the line of work in which I find myself, I'm very aware that there are a lot of things that don't, won't, and shouldn't.

I found this article both interesting and very informative. It's a great work.
