    Kilted Police

    On a recent thread, which I cannot locate now, there were a couple of pictures of kilted police from Lincoln N.H.
    As I am from that general neck of the woods I wrote a note to the department telling them about xmarks and suggesting some of the force might like to join us.
    Here is their reply to my note along with my note to them. Hopefully we may get a new member or two from the department.

    Good morning

    I apologize for my delay in returning your email. I have been in dispatch training for the past couple of weeks and it was very intense!

    I have forwarded your email to my officers and other staff. I am very happy that there is a forum for kilt-matters to be discussed as the kilt is a very important part of our formal uniform. Thank you for brining that to my attention.

    Out kilts are made by a very nice lady out of Keene, NH by the name of Judith Sullivan. She is just great and she does such beautiful work!

    Thank you for your interest in the Lincoln Police Department and please feel free to stop by next time you are in the area. We would love to meet you!

    Hello;
    Recently on the website xmarksthescot.com, a worldwide forum for people that wear the kilt, we were shown a couple of pictures of some of your police force wearing their beautiful New Hampshire State tartan kilts.
    As a former New Hampshireite myself, Bartlett NH, I would like to make this forum known to your police force and invite any of your members that may be interested to join us as members. The site is free and we discuss many different aspects of wearing the kilt, both traditional and non-traditional. We are also fortunate to have quite a few very well respected kilt and sporran makers as members of our forum.
    Thank you, and on a personal note, may I ask who makes your department kilts?

    This is interesting. I missed your previous postings on the kilted officers of the Lincoln, NH P.D. What are the circumstances of the wear of the kilt by this P.D.? Ceremonial or duty?

    @Jim - The force started wearing the kilt when on duty at the three day long New Hampshire Highland Games in Lincoln, NH. It is one of the largest games in the northeast. The response was so positive that they adopted the kilt as their formal uniform.

    Excellent looking uniform and quite distinctive.

    Good on them for helping the kilt go mainstream.

    In another reply from the Lincoln NH police the three men in the above pic have been identified as Officer Stevens, Sgt. Meier and Sgt. DeLuca. And I have just found out that the maker of these fine kilts is Judith Sullivan who also happens to be an xmarks member.

    The city of Bethlehem, PA, also has a city tartan, and police officers sometimes wear the kilt, for much the same reasons, they have the Celtic Classic, also a very large games. The thread below has a picture of me and a kilted officer.
