From Being Super Excited To Utter Disappointment
Just short of 12 months ago, I ordered a kilt. It was a special weave from D C Dalgliesh in the Australian tartan and the pleating was to be to the alternating white and blue stripes. I received the kilt today and was bloody excited as the postie handed me the box, I rushed inside, took out the basting stitches and wrapped it around the waist, walked into the living room, swirled in front of the lovely, cuddly, bubbly. She immediately asked, “why are there two white stripes together?” Bugger.

I don’t know if the kilt can be re-pleated as I know the pleat material excess at the waist has been cut out. I have in fact examined the kilt and it appears that the fault is in the weaving as there is no blue stripe in the pleat fold between the two whites seen in the photo. I’ll have to wait until the kilt maker gets back to me with a solution. What makes it worse is that I was meant to wear this kilt to an Anzac Day ceremony on April 25 I can't see me getting my kilt anytime soon. Cheers to all

What a shame! It's amazing that your kiltmaker didn't notice this anomaly. I hope that it eventually gets sorted to your satisfaction.

I could see completing it (with a discount) if the mistake was to be hidden under the front apron but it is unbelievable that they thought any customer would accept this. They should have contacted you as soon as the mistake was found. I hope they make this right with you.

I too find it amazing that it got out the door looking as it does. Cheers

While I empathize with your situation, I'm confident that your kiltmaker will make it right. I think I'd still plan to wear your kilt to the ANZAC Day Ceremony. I really don't think that anyone will notice once you're wearing it with accessories.

As you say so eloquently DK. Bugger.

Unfortunatly David, I was meant to be part of the catafalque party at two rememberance services and there is no way I am wearing a kilt that does not meet the standards expected. There will be members wearing kilts that were worn by Highland regiments of the Australian Army and quite possibly a few army musicians that currently wear the Australian Tartan.

What a shame is right! I like the pleating you were going for. Knife pleats to the alternating blue and white stripes looks great and it's a real pity about the error.

Aussie here!
Aye, what a bugger indeed. It most definitely would not do for the Duke, sir.
What are your measurements, Mike? There might be someone reading this who can maybe lend you one for the event.
The yell "AUSSIE HERE!" indicates that there is a mate nearby who is in a spot of bother and could do with assistance. If I had one made up, I'd bring it to Bundanoon for you. As it is, I've got the material to make one for me, so send your measurements to me by PM, and if we are close enough, well what better spur could I need to get cracking on the making of it.
