Good points, T. The Argentinians I've spent time with seem to want to separate themselves from the rest of N/S America and associate themselves with Europe (i.e. they speak Castellano, not Espagnol, they learn "British" English in School, not American English, they often drink tea instead of coffee etc.).

It seems to me that a lot of hispanic ladies are refreshingly outspoken and curious about the kilt, ask their questions, and seem satisfied with the explanations.

Brief story: I was walking around in town with my younger sister and we passed 4 young men dressed as thugs (which is a bit out of place for my town). Of course, they waited until they had passed and were sufficiently far away before they made comments to me about my "skirt". They were clearly not "genuine thugs" and I couldn't resist pointing out to them that there were four of them and one of me, and they were still too chicken to say something to me when I was close. Needless to say, they kept their distance. It's odd, I'm not a tough-looking guy, but by and large people seem to be a bit nervous about picking a fight with a guy in a kilt.

That's because alll through out history, men in kilts have kicked the arses of those in troosers.

That, and there is something terribly embarassing about having your **** kicked by a guy in a "skirt." It's not something most men are willing to risk.

Having sat across the table from you Oliver, I can only say you sell yourself short! You have the presence of someone not to be trifled with.

The truth is that he doesn't seem interested in wearing his kit to school. I have suggested it a few times, but invariably he ends up wearing something else. Outside of school he wears one a lot, or at least he did this summer. But, I will make it a point to get out the map and show him where Tazmania is, telling him that my friend Graham gives a 'thumbs-up' to any and all championing of the kilt that he should decide to do.

At the point in time where the girls start to think he's cool for wearing it, he'll wear it more. I just hope that those negative outside forces don't get him turned off before he discovers "the magic".
