Awesome pics - Thank you! Thanks to everyone, actually. I ordered a pair of Lovat Green, but I am very fond of the Claret hose posted by OC Richard; I think that color would work nicely. Again: Thanks to everyone for the advice & suggestions.

Another point that several more or less hinted at -- there are several House of Cheviot hose types that come with matching garters -- that's OK, but what I'm finding works even better is to mix the garters and hose to add some contrast.

    As in:

I'm the one on the right in Lovat Green Hose with garters from a set of claret/brick red hose

So the point is, get a variety of colours of hose/garters and mix it up --- as long as you don't go for a combination that's really off, it looks good and adds to the overall look.

My standard go to hose for every occasion, Oatmeal. Works with just about every tartan! I'm not sure about for dressier events, but everything below "formal" functions, they are great! Red garter ties would go smashingly to add just a splash of color that also compliments your Armstrong tartan. Cheers and may you enjoy the quality of a USA Kilt's Kilt.

For my XMTS kilt, I have grey hose, and dark blue hose. I also have dark blue flashes and gold flashes. generally go grey / dark blue or blue / gold, but I am thinking of mixing the grey hose with the gold flashes and see how that works out. I know I have pictures somewhere but not on this computer. I usually wear the grey hose with the XMTS kilt as I think the blue ones while nice looking, bring too much blue into the look.

Yes I like contrast there too, especially if you can get a warm/cool thing happening, like claret garters with blue or green hose or visa versa. Ditto with the shirt and tie.
