    Poor fellow

Interesting article on CNN.com this morning about "Distressed Parents" over prom dresses. If you go to this link, you'll find the 6th pic about a young man denied wearing a kilt to his prom. The incident was back in 2012, but included in the article...

Looking at who he had to make his case to, I can't say I'm surprised. Have you ever seen such an unpleasant looking bunch as those four?

I have to be completely objective here. He does look a little sloppy in it. Right or wrong that does matter to some people and probably swayed their opinion. Perhaps that is what they meant by "non-traditional?"

I really, really doubt it. I think the fact that it wasn't pants is what makes it non-traditional for their school. We kilt-lovers sometimes tend to forget that it's an exotic, strange, and risque concept to most Americans.

Yeah, I'd just about bet my life on this being a bunch of grumpy, unpleasant old people that can only see "a boy who wants to wear a skirt" to prom. They probably trotted out the well used line about "causing a distraction" too. Small mindedness like this is really frustrating, but I give that kid HUGE props for going to the mat over it.

...and I would wager my go-to-hell money that AT LEAST half of them are themselves of Scots-Irish lineage. Only in America.

It's St Louis, I'd lay better odds that they are more German than Scots-Irish. He should have worn lederhosen.

He is a friend of mine on facebook, he came home from the prom and changed into his kilt for the rest of the night and photos. He was happy to follow the ruling.
