I've always used the "High percentage DEET" repellents -- growing up
we had a box of 12 bottles of US mil issue 100% DEET left over from the
tropics and WWII -- smelled like crap -- but kept everything away, mozzies,
horseflies, even the slightly smaller ones that people in PA called "deer-flies".
We used to call it "people repellent"
I've got some now that's 85% DEET - works a treat. The only downside is that
it is *evil* on guitar finishes. So no repellent while making music at night when
camping.
