Anyway, here I am all dolled up for the evening. Reflecting on the recent discussions on dress I was probably most formal in attendance; but when you get a mixture of everything from suits and ties to t-shirts and jeans are there really any rules any more?

You look well turned out and being a little more formal than others isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Glad I found this thread... I was pondering the same question. My PC has silver buttons, my belt buckle is silver, the EGA on my Sgian Dubh is a subdued gold, my Balmoral badge is pewter and subdued gold, my miniature USMC medals are mostly bright gold with a bit of silver. I'm picking up a new USMC tie clasp next week, and it is bright gold. IIRC from boot camp 28 years ago, if you use brasso polish on anodized gold, it turns silver, so I will likely do that to the tie clasp. But, I think in general, from reading here, the non-kilted won't notice, and the kilted won't care if my metals don't match
