Plain Sporran Strap with Embossed Belt?

I'm ordering a sporran from Wyvern Leatherworks that's all black with a tooled design on the flap. It's a Rob Roy style. The belt is from SWK and is embossed, along with a nickel buckle that's a little flashy. The sporran strap also came from SWK and is plain leather, not embossed. Would it look strange to wear an embossed belt with a plain strap?

I've done it often. The sporran strap is narrow enough that there really isn't much to emboss, so almost think it would look silly to have both embossed (or at least overkill). You'll be fine. If it's not too late, I'd buy one of the Wyvern sporran straps. It's worth the extra money for sure, Donnie's straps are great. I'm getting ready to order one for a brown sporran I have. Cheap sporran straps stink if you ask me, and the one's from Wyvern really aren't expensive at all for as nice as they are.

I think that maybe, just maybe, you are over thinking this "wearing a kilt" thing. Why on earth would it not be "OK" to do that? The "kilt kops" are not going to come and lock you up, you know.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an overly odd thing to do. Regarding Wyvern's straps, I'm sure they're great, but unfortunately I placed my SWK order last week so it'll have to do for now.. until I decide that I just NEED another one.

Going back to previous and rather lengthy discussions about what goes with what when wearing a kilt, I'm in line with BCAC's thinking. Think of the kilt as a pair of pants that have the advantage of being able to be worn with many different looks, almost like jeans these days. Do you like the appearance of the combination, and are you comfortable with it? Until we get into formal wear, few, if any real rules exist.
