Assaulted for wearing a kilt last night
My girl and I stepped out last night to take in some live music, I dressed in a casual style golf shirt to match the hose, etc.
While returning to our table from the facilities I was nearly tackled by a woman with very friendly hands and apparently thought my wearing a kilt was an invitation as she made a big deal of smoothing my pleats, lol.
It was getting late so I invited her to join us for coffee, and she said "No thanks, I like Asian men."
We laughed for an hour over this, I thought I'd share.

My fiancee dislikes it, but this happens to me often when I wear the kilt as well. I wish I'd known this effect earlier in life. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
It's funny though, because if you grabbed at every woman in a plaid skirt, you'd be on some sort of a list, am I right???

Glad you had a sense of humor about it. I've only had someone get physical like that with me once and my reaction was not pretty, not gentlemanly, and made it really clear that her invasion of my personal space would get ugly if she kept it up. Her justification was that by wearing a kilt, I was asking for it. I asked he how she'd feel if I grabbed her t*** and/or a**, because since she was wearing such a low cut top and short skirt she was asking for it. She didn't seem to get it.
I'm all about the playful and flirty and fun, but to go grabbing and pushing yourself on a stranger is unacceptable. If a man did that to a woman he'd be lucky to only find himself 86ed.

I've experienced the smoothing of the pleats quite a few times over the years. My wife and I just laugh about it, and we have noticed it's not a generational thing. The women who have decided my pleats were not "laying correctly" have ranged in age from the mid twenties to late fifties. I have never had a woman do anything, other than smoothing the pleats, and most walk away red faced and slightly embarrassed they actually had the nerve to do something like that.

My personal space bubble is quite small, the times this has happened to me I have been a good sport about it, I usually make a colorful comment that causes the offending partyto be a bit embarrassed and cause those near to giggle. After all, life is a ride...enjoy it.

Perhaps a wee bit of booze was involved? I've only had that happen once...only it was a guy...at a Pride Festival....and he wasn't smoothing the pleats....I instinctively turned away from him, sort of spun away like a dance move. It worked. He fell on his face on the sidewalk...quite intoxicated gent. But I made a mental note to use that spin away move again if ever needed....

I wore my kilt while playing in pubs for years and I've had someone do a "kilt check" on many occasions. The curiosity overwhelms people. It's usually a woman, but sometimes by a man who a woman or group of women has dared. Thankfully it's usually from the back of the kilt...usually.

I've not had it happen often. The one or two occasions have been with someone I knew at least as an acquaintance. Typically I just give them an "are you sure you want to find out?" look, sort of daring them to lift the pleats farther. So far no one has, but I figure one day I might regret this approach...

Yes, you just may regret the approach.
I've noticed that it's generally females who ask.
My response is to inquire whether a question about
their knickers or lack of same would be considered
acceptable. This mostly works - though I have
encountered the occasional drunk upon whom this
makes no impression whatsoever.
Personally, I blame Spike Milligan and some of his
routines. Given the extent of the kilt-related
slapstick comedy, there are those who believe that
wearing a kilt means putting oneself in the public
domain and subject to whatever they (the presumed
"public") feel like saying.
Beyond my initial response, I simply ignore them.
Never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their
level and beat you with experience.
