This always produced an image. Now it produces the link but no image. I have changed nothing, has something changed in the programming or the policy?

I can't see the code for your signature, but did you include the [IMG] and [/IMG] brackets?

All that's showing is the web address of the image itself.

It works with the brackets, at least in the main reply box, so it's not a bad link.

I have changed nothing. It was working in the signature area and works everywhere else, except the signature area.

This is why I was wondering if there had been a change of policy or programming.

Years ago when Hank owned the forum, he made a decision that he did not want the forum to start to look like a mid-eastern bazaar. He had the settings of the forum software set not to allow images in signature blocks.

I inherited that thinking and kept to the original concept.

Over the years we have updated and upgraded the forum software many times, and although the signature block image settings were never changed, it appears that some members were able to insert images within their signature block and some were not.

Recently one signature block image was brought to the attention of the Moderators and the settings were checked. Although the setting had not changed there were still some members who were able to use them.

In fairness to all our members I asked the forum software to run a repair sequence. This resulted in all images within signature blocks to be reverted to their base BB or HTML code.

I apologize that this caused the images within the signature blocks of some older members to be reverted to code too. It was only my intent to apply the same settings to all our members equally.

Perhaps I could have worded my response better.

No Chas, there has not been any policy change or modification. What we found was a glitch in the forum software. For some reason we still do not understand, some members were able to post images to their signature blocks but not all members.

No images in signature blocks has been the way of X Marks since its beginnings so we felt it should remain so. We simply closed the glitch and applied the same criteria to all members equally.

I am really sorry that your image is no long there. I know and understand that you have had it in your signature block for a few years. You did nothing wrong and did not know that you were able to do this when very few others could. It was simply that no one noticed the glitch until the issue came to a head recently.
