dc dalgliesh kilt
i have bought the dc dalgliesh kilt, red dress ross from scotweb, but i choosed the mill from Lochcarron since i liked the tartan more from lochcarron, and the DC dalgliesh Mill was a bit over my budget.

I have a Lochcarron kilt, that is 30 years old, granted it was not worn much for the past 8 years, but it does not look that old. What I'm saying is, it will last a lifetime if my experience is anything to go by.

Congrats on your order. I'm sure you'll be happy.
I own a couple kilts in 16oz off-the-shelf Lochcarron fabric (Scotweb's 8yd Balmoral, and their 5yd Casual), and have another 16oz Lochcarron fabric kilt in Matt Newsome's queue. Additionally, I have a waistcoat and a Tam, in 10oz Lochcarron fabrics. Lochcarron makes a nice fabric, their colors are great, and their tucked selvedge isn't bad.
I also own 3 Dalgliesh-built hand-sewn 8yd traditional kilts, made from Dalgliesh custom weaves. These three hand-sewns became my instant favorites. Nick happened to have been at the Dalgliesh mill on the day Helen was finishing up one of my kilts, and snapped this photo for me...

Am I the only one who is a bit confused by the OP? Is it from Dalgliesh tartan or Lochcarron? Either way both weavers make wonderful tartan and I am sure you will enjoy your kilt for years to come. I will add my photo of Barb Tewksury finishing up my Royal Naval Tartan in DC Dalgliesh cloth

I need one of those photos, Glen! Perhaps on my next kilt from Barb?!

Glen, your confusion may be because Scotweb offers Dalgliesh to make the hand-sewn kilts, using anyone else's fabric, if that's what you want. In the OP, it sounds like he's having Dalgliesh make the kilt from Lochcarron fabric.

Aye that might be it. I was under the impression that the kilt would be sewn up by Scotweb, not Dalgliesh.

That can't be right, mate. D.C. Dalgliesh and Lochcarron are two separate mills in Scotland. From what I could discern from your original post, you purchased a kilt from Scotweb in tartan woven by Lochcarron, because it was less expensive than Dalgliesh woven tartan, correct?

Precisely, Glen. That's what I was thinking too. I don't think D.C. Dalgliesh is making kilts with non-Dalgliesh woven tartan, but I could be wrong. Balmoral, via Scotweb, would be the kiltmaker for an 8-yard kilt in Lochcarron tartan, would it not?

Reason: Typo.
