    I do like the IoS tartan, but as others have said, it's getting so common as to be passe. Yes, this is because it has universal appeal. But I have indeed seen pipe bands decked out in it, and it is quickly becoming just another generic universal tartan, which sort of takes the fun out of it (for me, anyway).

    I LOVE that County Monaghan tartan! I can see where people would equate it with fall colours, but I rather tend to think that's based on an American sense of seasonal fashion. The colours are beautiful, and if it were me, I'd wear it all the time without giving a rip what others think. It has a nice earthy balance of hues which, I'm betting, would make it easy to blend in or stand out, depending on what else you wear with it.
