1st Kilt

Not sure about the accessories yet. It is a basic kilt and not sure about what I want to add. I did buy a kilt pin at the same time.

When I was looking at this one, there were some high school kids looking into getting a kilt also. It seems that their Vice Principal wears one.

As to soon getting a new kilt, I am already thinking about it. One site I have looked at is Stillwater Kilts. But I am wondering about the material they use. They say it it acrylic fabric. Not sure what that feels or looks like. Is it washable? I am looking at the economy line. Is that a mistake? Should I go with the standard?

The one thing I have noticed is that a lot of kilts online are 24" long. This is probably going to be too long for me. Is it difficult to shorten a Stillwater Kilt?

As far as stillwater kilts go, I don't own one but the general consensus seems to be that they're a great kilt for the money. More answers are undoubtedly on the way from those who own them.

what sorry wil..
i had my first purchased kilt, also economy purposes,from ebay. last winter and sppring i found quite cheap kilts like 100 dollars from wool and with a nice shape. i m affraid they stopped selling this ones and with another poly-viscose kilt with sporran and belt, i made bad experience. said that this last kilt was really cheap. so i stopped buying , at least i had enough kilts for the moment ;)
do anybody know what kind of kilts they sell now?

so i would go for the medium way as well in poly viscose either wool. my viscose feels as good as wool to me and also handling is nearby the same. (except viscose material >70%)

concerning lenght you can wear if liked just under neavelheight and try to get your kneecap. shorten a kilt is a quite long-winded and borring action and needs skills on the sewing machine i don t have, but might be of average difficulty.
then, what also my problem is, question is cutting the material just up, or pleat it to the inside.
best would be cutting, but the sewings an the bottom would look bad, like small circles or kind like; at least the seams ,my moms machine can do.
so most of my kilts heve the pleats inside, but i don t mind. they all get good grades in sheapness.

if cutted, there must be possibilty to get stuff like this ribbon that could be ironed on the tartan. but i didn´t found this yet...
