Glad to see a few new posts since I was out of the loop yesterday. Should have snapped a pic as I was in my R'lyeh Tartan, Lilac polo from Jos Bank, bourbon leathers and grey hose.

As to leading a project for a run of speacial Leatherneck; I'd jump on that grenade since their are others here who have been down that gauntlet before. I'm WSQ qualified but might need one of the special order vets to throw me a flotation ring!

I would think that we have the numbers here to generate a sizable order. Personally I am interested in Larget Sett and Wilsons colors. I however do not have the skill sett or knowledge to figure out what is the appropriate sett and what would pleat up best in this tartan.

Colors could be changed to reflect modern or Wilson's, etc.
This sett comes in at 14.8"

So if I interpret it correctly, I figure that image to reflect 1/4 of the repeat.

Having been down the custom weave road a number of times, including a run of 20 yards, double-width, I may be able to answer questions on the process.

Feel free to PM, if you feel the need.

Of course, I'd need to point out that you'd be asking a squid for advice!

A Floridian Squid none the less. Thanks so much. I have family in Lake City, Dad worked in Jacksonville many years ago. My most vivid memories are of the old lady I was left with for day care as a 5 year old. Actually it was the switches I'd have to go pick.

Gentlemen; as someone who makes kilts, I just have to add my two cents....
Sometimes the bigger sett does look better across the aprons (than lots of repeated small setts) But...a big sett means either more tartan for you to buy and deeper pleats to reproduce exactly. The kilt maker can "Cheat a pleat" which means we rob Peter to pay Paul, to get the most out of your fabric....some pleats might be 14" some 3". Most of you wouldn't know the difference but if you are on this site ; you might want to know. If you gave this tartan to three different kiltmakers, chances are you would get three different pleating options.

Thanks for the input Tartan Tess. I figured that to be the case, and if I were going to go that route, personally it would be with the intent to produce a tank.
