    DIY Sgian Dubh 2.0

I've had some antler for a while (thanks @crash) and wanted to make a second sgian dubh. I previously made a rib handled sgian dubh which is detailed here:

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...23/index2.html

This project is an upgrade of that one rather than a second knife. I repurposed the blade and scabbard from the rib handled sgian project for this one.

VERY nice. I love the detail on the pommel. Is the antler comfortable against your leg? I've always liked the look, but worried it would rub me raw.

Looks great. Curve of the antler makes it look like an old caping knife.

I like it. Good job Nathan! What did you use for the pommel? Is it metal or wood?

The pommel is a stone I collected at False Bay Beach in Cape Breton and adorned with a brass maple leaf. This maple leaf and the matching one on the scabbard were a set of cuff links.

It could be more comfortable but I'm hearty. Actually, it's the bolster, rather than the antler that protrudes a little much. If I had a metal grinder, I might make it flush. I could also smooth the backside of the antler in the process. Those two steps would make it very comfortable but for now, it's just fine. I wore it last night to the pub for hours and forgot it was there.

Nathan showed me this sgian last night and I agree that it is quite an upgrade over version 1.0
