I had to wait nearly a year for my first kilt, until I'd lost sufficient weight to look reasonable in one.

I have waited 36 years for my first kilt. And I still have several weeks to go before it gets here. These weeks seem like an eternity. LOL So I am sure you will be very happy with your new kilt. Do not forget the pics so we can see how it looks on you. Fantastic, I am sure.

2 yard kilt? Are ypu sure it's not a four yard kilt? Nothing wrong with lower yardage if it's made well.

It was advertised as an economy 2 yd kilt and the pleats are not that deep. It doesn't seem to swing very well either, but it is wool worsted and very warm. I don't think it looks too bad ( see my avatar) but I am looking forward to getting a 'proper' kilt to wear

Two yard or not - it looks fine to me. It may not "swish" as well as an expensive kilt but you probably don't have to worry about damaging it either. I have a couple of inexpensive (cheap Pakistani) kilts and they are fine for what they are. I have one in solid black that I have "dressed up" for a couple of occasions and have received compliments. (But I suppose I didn't run into any well-educated snobs on those occasions. )

I did something similar in ordering a poorly sized basic original SportKilt (sizing was my fault – it’s a tad short). It wasn’t long before I was ordering a proper 8-yard wool kilt from USA Kilts (Rocky has a great deal on some of his X-rental stock). Initially I thought the SportKilt purchase was a mistake. Now I feel that it was an opportunity buy a kilt without spending hundreds of dollars as an experiment to see if I even liked wearing a kilt. In this case the experiment went well. My only regret is wishing I’d selected a different length. I made darn sure not to repeat that with my second kilt… Live and learn, right?

I should also say that both SportKilt and USA Kilts were very easy to work with and demonstrated top-notch customer service to a novice with many questions. I also have no issues with the quality of the garments. I knew what I was buying on both accounts and my expectations were exceeded. I’d be happy to purchase from either of them in the future, should my particular needs require it.

Enjoy your 5-yarder! I’m sure it will look, wear and feel great!
