Hi Kyle,
Firstly, all your choices are good ones, so you can't really go wrong.
I think I like G best because the overall impression of the tweed works well with both tartans, plus the red & blue pinstripes happen to pick up on the red and blue in both tartans.
Other options that I like are C, D, E and A, probably in that order. I also like B, but as Nathan points out, isn't it rather too close to the jacket you already own?

My personal favorite, without respect to the tartans is C, but it would tone well with both tartans. B is lovely too, but it seems too contrasty to go well with the leatherneck. The same goes for F. Of the windowpanes, I favor D as the it is the most saturated, and has the added herringbone base pattern.

Question: Why haven't you gone with Cluny's tweed to compliment your MacPherson Hunting?
No, I'm not selling anything, Nathan; and the tweed jacket and waistcoat in which you speak of is staying right where it is! In regards to your question concerning Cluny's Tweed, I am actually having a jacket and waistcoat made in that fine tweed as we speak. Alison Macpherson (granddaughter of Hugh Macpherson), owner of Hugh Macpherson's Highland Dress shop in Haymarket, Edinburgh, has been assisting me with my order. However, due to the nature of the coloured flecks found in the tweed fabric, it will really only work well with the Macpherson Hunting tartan, and not any other Macpherson tartan. So, the wearing of the jacket and waistcoat is indeed limited, which is one of the reasons why I waited so long to order one.

Ah, so the jacket you already own is actually very close to C, not B.
I therefore change my ranking to G, D, E, B

Correct. I realise that it's rather difficult to properly discern what the tweed will look like in jacket form; when all you really have to go by is something on a much smaller scale, such as a tweed swatch. As I stated previously, Tweed B is a very strong contender. I think the tweed would look fantastic with the Chattan tartan in reproduction colours. It's much lighter in overall hue than the darker, gun check tweed that I have now. I'm also drawn to the actual tweed pattern which is also different than the gun check. And I'm sure the mustard and brick red coloured stripes would pop quite nicely against the fawn, loden, and brown background.
Also, I really like this colour of green material for the lining. I think it compliments Tweed B quite nicely, as well as having a bit of a contrast:

Quick question regarding the jacket and waistcoat lining seen in the above post:
How many yards of lining material would I require for one jacket and matching waistcoat?
Reason I ask is because this particular colour choice for the lining is not one of the options offered by the tailor, so I will have to order the lining material and ship it to the tailor, which is no bother on my part. I'm all about the details and getting what I want the first time around!
Thanks,

I still think D would look brilliant with both of those tartans and many others!

Tweed D is a fine choice indeed, Nathan. So versatile; especially with red based tartans, or even green based tartans that have a red stripe.

Kyle, I like both tartans (although I am ineligible to wear either and wouldn't). As to the Tweed selections I am increasingly drawn to warmer browns and like both sample A and sample H in that order as I really like the herringbone weave of A.
Ultimately, it's your choice and I generally like your sartorial style although we may disagree on some of the finer points of detail from time to time. I'd be interested to hear what you decide.
Yours Aye,
Peter
