Harris Tweed kilt. Formal or not

Hello all,
I'm having a custom tartan woven and am considering it in the Harris Tweed.
I'm wondering if the Tweed tartan kilt is suitable for formal occasions or more for a casual (country) barn dance.

A kilt woven in tartan tweed , whilst a lovely thing to have, would be considered as rather agricultural for formal events. Perfect for a barn dance, although it could be a tad warm once the action starts!
