Thank you for posting this. One of my Uncles was shot down while returning from a bombing run. He lies forever in Holland.

I've been an aircraft freak since I was a little boy. After a career in military aviation, I still look up when I hear one fly over. The old warbirds are extra special, and the Lancaster is a gem. The bomb bay is enormous! Thanks for the story!

I love Canada as well. I married a wonderful BC gal.

I watched this fascinating documentary with Ewan MacGregor a while ago. His brother, an RAF Tornado pilot, trains to fly the Lancaster. Highly recommend.

Any idea where? Years ago I was involved in a project that marked, excavated and documented downed war planes in Noord Oost Polder and Flevoland.

Is he Robert Edward Rennie? I walk and bike there quite a lot, I'll make a point to pass there and pay my respects, if that's alright with you.

My Dad was a RCAF Sergeant-Navigator on Lancasters, but he never really discussed the war with us, so I don't know where he flew out of in England.

Fantastic pictures Alex and what a great experience. I'm aiming to get to East Kirkby on Tuesday just to see them flying. Entry is sold out, so will be an outside view, but it is your post which got me started investigating the flying programme.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
