Charleston (South Carolina) Scottish Games & Highland Gathering, 20 September 2014

The Scottish Society of Charleston is holding their 48th annual Scottish Games and Highland Gathering the weekend of Sept 20th.

Festivities start with a Whisky tasting Thursday evening. Friday night is a Tartan Ball. Saturday are the Games themselves. Sunday there's a Kirkin o the Tartan.

The "Honored Clan" this year are the US Armed Forces. All military members and veterans in uniform receive free admission Saturday. Not sure what constitutes "in uniform" for veterans no longer beholden to their respective service's regulations on wear and appearance.

My new job has quenched my plans for being there this year as I will be on a four night rotation during the entire period.

My wife and I will be there rain or shine ( I understand mostly rain ) a proud member of the Maxwell and McDuff Clan. I will be wearing my muted Maxwell kilt and my highland blade dirk as well as my billy goat sporran. Best regards Mattie
