Two days on Skye: your choices?

Another place we stayed in on Skye, albeit 20+ years ago was the Skeabost Hotel....now the Skeabost Country House.

For some years afterwards it had a dreadful reputation but it seems to be getting good press nowadays.

However when we stayed in it, we arrived on the recommendation of a good friend and thought it would be way above our price range upon arrival when we saw the Bentleys, Jaguars and other expensive cars outside it, and yet it turned out to be excellent value and had an 'egon ronay' recommended restaurant.

It also had a small golf course (maybe nine hole...can't recall) a decent river to fish in with ghillie if you stayed longer than three days and inside it was very colonial and old worldie.

I think one of the owners had been in colonial service perhaps in Africa or India and there were stuffed animals everywhere! I remember thinking that some of the hides would be great for bass or tenor drummers!

One of the owners had been a certain Major McNab, a name I recall given my own surname.

I haven't been back since but intend to do so in the future.
