    5K Run... Kilted

I once did a late night training jog in my Sport Kilt, but I had not participated in an actual event wearing a kilt until Sunday. The reality is that I may have run in the kilt anyway, because why not? However, in this case we were part of the “Friends of A” team to support the Adrienne Hussey Scholarship funding cranial aneurysm research (which took Adrienne's life at age 26). There is a deep Irish connection as my wife and Adrienne were friends through the Rose of Tralee International Festival (they both had represented Texas in Tralee). So, the All Ireland tartan got called up for duty. Mine was the only kilt I saw, which wasn't surprising. Several compliments were called out while I was running.

I also happened to run into my company's Chief Financial Officer after the race at a local Irish pub where a large crowd had gone to watch the All Ireland Gaelic Football Final. News spreads fast around here... he told my boss, and yesterday she called me out on my kilted Sunday activities. The good news is that I now have clearance to wear my kilt to work on the rare occasion when have a casual day (we usually call this "jeans day"), provided that I ensure there won't be any exposure issues in the office. I'll be wearing my 8 yard wool American Heritage tartan kilt for that, and will endure my boss's sarcastic comments... all in good humor and fun, of course.

I've attached a photo of my lovely wife and me taken after the run.

Yes, well done, and the exposure (no pun intended) of others to the kilt benefited you on more than one level.....
