    Thank you Taskr and Bonnie,

    Taskr -
I does seem that while a machine stitched kilt may have some advantages a hand stitched kilt may be the way to go. If I'm going to make an investment it will be for something that will last, but if over time things change, having a hand stitched kilt by a trusted kiltmaker would probably be more easily altered or repaired.

    Bonnie -
I really appreciate your input; I am trying to get a feel for the cost of a hand made kilt. Your perspective is helpful

That is in my opinion, Moses. Though I will admit that I have no concerns regarding the longevity of my hand stitched. From what I've been reading on the forum, it is easy to figure out that folks like Bonnie and Wizard are authoritative.

Hi, Moses, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
Since you are getting excellent advice, I will leave that in the hands of the experts.
    Enjoy your kilting!
    Regards,

Moses, hi ! My kilts are hand made, She does an awesome job..When I first ordered. my first kilt it was a light weight, because I was concerned of the heat in my neck of the woods lol.. it can get humid.Bonnie gave me a choice and I wanted to try the light weight first, but then I got another kilt in med weight ( I like the med weight better) and there is a difference w material I do get wool (ALL MINE ARE WOOL). but I find it no difference in the summer time concerning the heat, actually with the med weight kilts I find the breeze goes under better possibly because of the weight keeping u cooler.. 2 out of my 5 kilts are light weight, the other 3 are med weight and I try to keep to the med weights .. I'm getting 2 more for Christmas this year and they will be med weight ( now the only way I will get a light weight kilt is if the tartan place doesn't have what I want in med weight or problems w getting the tartan in time ).. but would like to keep to med..... Good luck .. alot of good advice here on XMarks the Scot....I'm sure you will look very handsome in your kilt... Angie
