The problem with trying to photograph the black on black Tartans is that they always come out looking like plain black fabric.
It takes the light hitting them to show the Tartan pattern. We did have some luck using a cell phone to take pics to help us align the Tartan when sewing. With luck we still have a few of those.
Otherwise drop me a line and I'd be happy to send you a swatch. We just finished a kilt in the Ben Dubh Tartan from Marton Mills.
Take my word for it these are truly black on black.
When customers take a fancy to one of these I always tell them "If you are wearing a kilt in this Tartan and someone asks 'What clan is that?', you can answer, ---wait for it --- Clandestine!"
