My 5.11 kilt has cargo pockets originally designed for rifle and pistol magazines...which in the real world, means I get a pocket with two large compartments and one with three smaller compartments. Combined with the deep front pockets, I have an easy time distributing my keys, wallet, phone, where needed. The metal bits go in the cargo pockets, my phone and wallet go in the front, and anything larger or immediately needed goes in the nylon Nightstalker sporran which itself is practically a backpack it's that spacious.
My favorite part of wearing my kilt to events? I end up with so much cargo space my female friends use me as their communal purse if they're in tight costumes, and I usually have extra room as we shop.
