Somehow the cut of motorcycle vests just don't work well with my kilt (or maybe it's just the shape of my middle in a motorcycle vest). Most of the vests in our shop are cut fuller (for the more self indulgent customer) and longer (for more overlap and wind protection) than what I would like to wear with my kilt. There is, however, a western wear shop that has some really cool vests in both leather and wool that have the nice trim fit similar to what you'd see in the Scottish wear catalogs.

Is it me, or is this thread and this one alone impossible to view without scrolling left and right?

Text wrap seems to have gone, but is fine on other threads!

Thanks for the vest advice, I'll hunt around, I figure leather is a good in-vest-ment

I've noticed the same phenomenon on other threads too Graham, especially threads that featured photos. I never said anything 'cause I figured it was just something to do with my machine. I guess not.

I thought that I was seeing something strange, but the last few days have been strange. Yes I have noticed that also.

All things considered (and despite the "URLasaurus") I like the vest from Cabela's. Heck, Cabela's is only a half hour from here...If they had it in light brown, I'd be checking the store hours!

I have a black leater vest (sinple, with about 5 snaps) I bought from "Wilson's" (On sale, at about $40). Until now, I never thought to wear it with the kilt!

    Thanks for the tip!

You might try some of the American suppliers for Old West (cowboy) reenactors....a lot of those leather vests actually come out of India.

I use "Once were Warriors" video in alcoholism groups a lot. Always admired the woven leather vests worn by the Maori gangs in the movie. Don't know if that would be culturally appropriate/safe to wear. Sure wish I could find a source for them...without the gang patch of course...

Nah, you have a long way to go to compete with that URLasaurus Miah posted. ( I like that term, URLasaurus. It fits so well)

Now that it's posted, I see that. Oh well. I'll try some other time. :P
