Received a bottle of Macallen 12 from my downstairs condo neighbor, who is now officially My Most Absolute Favorite Neighbor Of All Time. I will crack that open in due time, but for tonight it's one of my new favorite Everyday Drams, Lismore Speyside Single Malt (US$17.99 for 750ml at Trader Joe's). Happy Holidays To All My Kilted Brethren!

Lismore has been one of my favorite everyday malts for years. More than adequate. That 750 of Lismore goes for about $35.00 here in Washington so lately I`ve developed a taste for Trader Joe`s blended, at $15.00 per liter with tax I can grin and bear it.

A possible arbitrage opportunity, were it not for the fact that the cross-state transportation of booze unfortunately has also come under the post 9-11 laws by which we must now abide and is frowned upon as virtual bootleggery. I gave a bottle of Lismore to my girlfriend's cousin (freshly graduated from university) for Christmas, and he hugged me as if I was cutting him into my will, which was very gratifying--NOBODY was gifting me with bottles of single malt when I was his age!

You're a better man than I am, Gunga Jeff! I can't remember 3 nights back, let alone 4.
Is the Dalmore 21 their port-finished distillation? I had a bottle of that until a big-pig friend of mine, and this big pig, drank what was left while puffing cigars.
If I remember correctly, Cardhu is the only distillery run by a woman, but that was back in the late 19th century. It is now owned by Diageo, but I have no idea who runs it.

Same to you, Frank! I never liked Ardbeg malts (peaty and all that) until a friend of mine bought me a 1990 distillation. It was great stuff. Now, I can't find it anywhere.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
