    Yes Burns Suppers bring out that sort of thing! I've piped for many years at a Burns Supper (cancelled this year however) and the organiser always wears the same thing: a wonderful 100 year old Edwardian sporran, celtic top and goat hair body, tartan full hose, a white shirt, and... wait for it... a tartan skirt. No, not a casual kilt or even a kilt skirt with flat aprons in the front and pleats in the back, but just a skirt, gathered evenly all round.

    And not just them! There's a piping magazine (which shall go nameless) which has a Highland Dress 'fashion expert' who appears to be completely ignorant of the history and norms of Highland Dress.
