Chicagoans and Canadians have a bit in common.
Today it was just above freezing; most folks out and about wore sweatshirts, sweaters or vests over shirts. Not unanimous hats and gloves by any stretch.
And just after sundown, gobs of grilles were fired up to char animal flesh.

Well, John, I’m glad you enjoyed Cape Town, my birthplace.
Tell us more about your travels in the land of the wine route, Table Mountain and the dolphins.
My son lives down there, and we will be heading that way at the end of March for the birth of his first child.

Richard, those forecasts of wind in the canyons seem ominous. Aren’t you guys worried about fire over there?

This thread must require an update. The storm (now in progress Jan. 26, 2015) archives this post.

Seems that what we have now is a "storm in progress" thread. Prayers for all in danger, and blessings on those who help!

Keep safe everyone. I have had to cancel business calls to the eastern seaboard for this week in anticipation that most people will be sensible and stay home. When I received the weather warning last night they described it as "Epic".

Up in Maine we are getting ready for a good old Nor Easter'. Tonight's forecast is 36 hours straight of snowfall with 40-60 MPH wind. They say at least 2 feet. Wha Hoo!!!! I am telling all the kids on my bus to wear their pajamas inside out tonight so we get a snow day tomorrow (and maybe wed.)

Snow falling in Connecticut at noontime and we are facing a "lifethreatening" storm of "historic" proportions. 24-30" of snow predicted between 7:00 PM tonight to 7:00 PM tomorrow with winds exceeding 50mph. Time to hunker down.
Stay safe all my friends here in Old New England!

Hope you all are holding on!
Here it's same ol' same ol'
Nope those Santa Ana Winds didn't amount to anything. Just wait till October! When we'll probably have days of 100+ degrees, Santa Ana Winds blasting at 70mph, thousands of acres of bone-dry brush, and all it takes is one eejit to set everything ablaze.
