Casual Kilt can it be done???

Tenorclef,

Please be careful when using the term "casual kilt". That term may mean many different things to many different people.
To some it means any Tartan kilt that is machine sewn.
To others it means one that has wider pleats using less fabric.
To some it means any kilt designed to be worn somewhere other than full rise.
Some every use the term to refer to anything made out of any fabric other than wool.
And to most it means something 'kilt like' that does not have any internal structure. We call these "jeans made' vs 'kilt made' where it is the fabric and the stitching that takes all the stress of wearing the kilt.

So "Casual" is not a single type of kilt. There is no single definition of a "Casual Kilt" and what one company calls their Casual may be very different from what another company is referring to.

Hi Steve Ashton, thanks for the info, subsequently if you've read through the thread you'll see from my last post that I now have the cloth for a traditional kilt.

So the kilt is made and was posted out yesterday from the shop and should be with me early next week. Very excited to see my first real kilt soon. Review to follow.

Ok so the parcel arrived today from MacDonalds Kilt makers, i've just quickly put it on after removing all the excess cotton bits and reckon its a great fit.

Thanks, very pleased with it. 6000+ hand stitches and about 20 hours of work they said. My first hand crafted kilt.....I say first but it'll also be my last. I reckon it should last a life time, just got to watch my weight now :-)

Very nice choice, TenorClef, you will never regret any of the decisions you made with your first hand crafted kilt.

However...

Kilts are a addicting so...don't be surprised if you end up wanting another.
