Oh Richard, I'd love to send you some snow to help you out in your time of trial.
At 7am I had to clean a foot of snow off the top of my SUV before I could take it out to clean the drive - that's what fell after I got in at 11pm last night. I waded through snow up to my knees to get back in. And we are supposed to get another foot overnight...just finished moving snow and getting ready to head out, now.
You can send your eejit up here and he can try to light something...it'll just fizzle in the snow. If he gets frostbite, oh well, maybe he will learn to keep his hands in his pockets.
I can dream about those Santa Ana winds blowing through here overnight so that I don't have to move anymore snow tomorrow....please, pretty please...

There's supposed to blow today and tomorrow, 45 mph winds, I hope no fires get started! (The blowing palm-tree logos.)
The "global weirding" continues...

Tomorrow my wife and I are, strange to say, going to escape the heat by going to Las Vegas! It's usually much hotter there than here but for some strange reason it's much cooler there now.
We're spending the weekend attending the USA Sevens (Rugby) tournament. Temps will only be in the 70s.

Richard, enjoy the Sevens. Look out for the men in green (known as the Blitz Boks).

... and for our friends who aren't in Canada, here's a real Canadian winter!

Right now, it's calm here in SW Ontario, but yesterday the thermometer fell to -26C and yes... we still had a service at church!

Bill, you may have had the service at church but did you have any parishioners at the service?

I can see that this global warming thing is a big issue with you Bill.

I think the better term Jock, is "Global weirding."

My birthday present from Liesel last fall was this heated birdbath. It's thermostatically controlled to be just barely above freezing. Actually, yesterday in the deep-freeze weather, there was a wee bit of ice floating on top of it, but that melted quickly.
If you think birdies wouldn't want a bath in winter, think again! It's actually harder for them to find open water than it is to find feed since so many folks put out feeders for them, and they obviously love this.
That's not snow falling in the picture... it's water splashing from the bath!
